Unusual Pumpkin Decorating Ideas
Unusual Pumpkin Decorating Ideas
Cutting into a pumpkin with a sharp knife might not be everybody's idea of a great activity to do with kids, and so we've compiled some unusual pumpkin decorating ideas that you could have a go at this year.
Use a drill
Come again? Yep, you read that right, a drill! We tried this unusual pumpkin decorating idea a couple of years ago, and it was super simple and so effective. You can get really creative drilling holes into a pumpkin. Keep it sleek and simple in rows, or use different sized drill bits to create far out and beautiful patterns. You could go even further, using scraper tool, to scratch away some of the skin from around some of the bigger holes to make it look like stars shining!
Turn the pumpkin on his side
Another unusual pumpkin decorating idea is to turn it on to his side for carving. You can use the stalk for one of his facial features - like a nose in this picture. Draw on or cut the rest of the face out.
Paint and Use Stickers
A great one for little kids that may be put off by grinning toothless scary faces. The third of our unusual pumpkin decorating ideas is to use washable paints. With this method, you can re-decorate to your children's hearts content, and then carve Halloween!
Cut out using cookie cutters
Try either Halloween shapes, or stars/flowers etc, for an unusual pumpkin decorating idea! Use a hammer (wood or metal) and tap the cookie cutter into the flesh carefully until it's pierced through. Remove by popping out. We did this a few years ago, and it looked great with bats flying all over the wall!
